Cambridgeshire County Council
Cambridgeshire County Council’s vision is to have a single record for every child within Cambridgeshire to enable them to access the information they need quickly and use it effectively.
Previously, the council recorded data from five different databases across education and social care, along with various spreadsheets and different paper methods to record data. This made cross-agency sharing of information very difficult, risked errors and made it difficult to see a full picture of any child.
In order to achieve its vision, Cambridgeshire adopted Capita’s One management information system, which manages virtually every aspect of contact with a child by the local authority. The same core data is used by a school, a social worker, or a parent / carer arranging transport for a child.
Using One has meant that there is no re-keying of data that already exists in the system and an end to hand-written records. If a school report in their management information system that a child is excluded from school, all departments can see this – saving time and ensuring information is up-to date across the council.

Tip of the Day
Once letters to parents have been generated through Workflow timelines in CSS, they are then logged automatically, making the letter part of the child's record and easily accessible.
