Earlier in the year, we ran a competition in partnership with UKAuthority, asking local authorities to submit ideas for an app they felt would help deliver effective services to their customers.
The competition's prize was for three lucky winners to have their app entries designed and built for free, allowing each authority to engage with, and best support, their customers*.
Many thanks to those who submitted ideas. We’re delighted to announce our winners are:

- Norwich City Council
Our digital solutions specialists are now working with each authority to discuss and demo designs for their app, how it will work and how it can integrate with their data.
We’ll look forward to sharing more information about each app soon, and unveiling the finished apps for customers to download!
Customer-focussed apps in practise: a few of our case studies
Spelthorne Borough Council launched their app, built on Capita's Advantage Digital Apps platform, to improve access to local information and reduce the pressure on its contact centre. They currently get 3-4,000 hits on it every month and have more than 1600 app users. Click here to read more
Another free to download app created in Capita's Advantage Digital app platform and deployed by Cheshire-based Fortunatus Housing Solutions, allowing vulnerable tenants to communicate more easily with them, was highly commended in the Excellence in Innovation category of 2015’s annual Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation Performance Awards. * One App design, build and year one SaaS has been awarded to the best three ideas for an app that provides tangible benefits to a public sector organisation and its customers.
Future year SaaS charges will apply after year one. Such charges will be advised to the winner(s) prior to commencement of the app project. The winner(s) shall be under no obligation to carry on using the solution or to pay any charges after the first year.
