I made a rather grand promise when I blogged a few weeks back about the recent software update seminars by stating that, behind the product enhancements and new solutions coming up, our key focus was on making your lives easier.
If you were able to come in person to the software update seminars, you’ll know this was no empty pledge. (If you weren’t able to make it to the seminars, you can view the videos and presentations on My Account. We talked through our plans for next year, as well as looking at some of the highlights of the Capita One Autumn Release – each of which has been designed specifically to alleviate those common frustrations you’ve spoken to us about.
This year’s Autumn Release includes a focus on those enhancements to One which save time, so that local authority teams have more resource to put into those areas which need it most. I’ve pulled out a few highlights which I think you’ll be particularly interested in to give a flavour of these developments:
- More control over B2B:Student scheduled tasks
To give you more control over the frequency and scheduling of B2B:Student file submissions from schools, we’ve enhanced the scheduled tasks functionality. You can select data by cohort and there are now more options for timings of the data transfers, ensuring local authority teams have the flexibility to define the data and regularity of submissions at the most relevant point to ensure the most up to date information.
- More intuitive System Administration
For a more intuitive process, we’ve ensured that links within the user and group management areas are now available to the permissions management areas. Administrators can also now manage users and user groups, and ‘batch’ create users.
- Education Plan Monitoring which supports multi-agency and mobile working
In keeping with our growing suite of portal solutions, Education Plan Monitoring is being delivered via a fresh-looking new portal which is multi-device compatible, supporting mobile working and therefore making it easier for those professionals visiting schools and other establishments to view and update records in real-time.
- Simplifying school place management
To make it easier for you to find a school place for students where it’s not been possible to allocate them to one of the parental preference schools, we’ve produced a set of time-saving tools called the Allocating Alternative Places (AAP) routine. Included within the functionality of AAP is the ability to be able to try out allocations and check before you commit; calculating the nearest school and the next nearest school; and creating system-generated allocated preferences against each student which will warn if over-allocating.
Furthermore, enhanced student, application and carer searches mean that you can find information more easily even if you only know what the name begins with or sounds like, useful if you’re picking up a phone message which isn’t clear.
- Freeing up teams working in Youth Justice
We’ve enhanced our case management tools to save time for teams working in Youth Justice. New functions include better visibility of the vulnerability level of a client in the assessment summary and the availability of the Youth Justice timetable report which enables users to specify how many days into the future when exporting appointments.
The above are, of course, only a snapshot of a wide range of features which encompass across-the-board improvements to improve your experience of using One and help ease the administrative burden on local authority teams. See the full pre-release notes on My Account
