In an article published by Government Computing, Tim Swift, leader of Calderdale Council, talks about the council’s journey towards paperless public facing services.
Calderdale wanted to move their school place application process online to improve the experience for both families and staff. Previously the system was heavily paper-based, with the process a time-consuming one.
To make the move online, the council made it a priority to ensure families understood what was expected of them and were engaged throughout.
As a result of Calderdale’s efforts, the move to online applications soared from just 16% in 2010/11 to almost 98% in 2014/15 - a huge success.
Tim shares how the Council achieved this huge success in the full Government Computing article
